Weather and widgets showing the wrong location

Not a connectivity fault. Widgets rely on your phone's location services and their own refresh schedule, and both can lag behind your movement, especially after a long flight with the phone in Airplane Mode.

The fix

Open the weather or widget's own app directly and let it update. Once it shows the right city, the widget catches up on its next refresh, usually within minutes.

If the weather app is wrong too

Check Location Services is on for it, with precise location allowed. Then toggle Airplane Mode for 30 seconds so your phone re-registers on the local network; that often nudges location and time zone into place at once.

Location uses data

Weather, maps, and widgets fetch their updates over your MTN Travel eSIM line, so if the widget is stuck and nothing else loads either, run through No signal after landing: the checklist first.

Widgets and fixed plans

Background refresh for widgets uses a little data all day. On a fixed plan for a long trip, it's small but not zero; turn off background refresh for apps you don't need.
